2023 Rosalyn L. Coleman Scholarships Awarded to Two Warren County Graduates
St. Aloysius High School graduate Ms. Alison Blackburn and Warren Central High Graduate Ms. Sidney Dimmette are the recipients of the 2023 Rosalyn LaCoya Coleman Memorial Scholarship. Both graduates received $2,500 each. The scholarship is awarded annually to high school graduates of Claiborne and/or Warren Counties who have been accepted to a 2 or 4 year collegiate institution within the state of Mississippi. Ms. Blackburn has been accepted to the University of Mississippi. Ms Dimmette has been accepted to Mississippi College. Each scholarship recipient will be enrolled with the 2023 freshman class.
This award commemorates the “full” lifetime of accomplishments of Ms. Rosalyn Coleman, whose life ended in March 2007 while attending Tougaloo College where she majored in economics with an emphasis in accounting. Rosalyn's parents, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Rickey Coleman and Mrs. Mary Coleman are former residents of Claiborne County.
Rosalyn was a member of the National Honor Society; Who’s Who Among American High School Students; National Society of High School Scholars; graduated Magna Cum Laude from Warren Central High School in 2006; and during her first semester became a Tougaloo Presidential Scholar. Besides academics, she had a love of family, music, and her church family.

Ms. Owens received $2,500, Ms. Scott $750, and Ms. Walker $350. The scholarship is awarded annually to high school graduates of Claiborne and/ or Warren Counties who have been accepted to a 2 or 4 year collegiate institution within the State of Mississippi.
